Ceremony: 4 Elements

Two recent brides have included the four elements into their ceremonies. During this ritual, the couple partakes of vinegar, lemon, cayenne pepper, and honey which represent the bitter, sour, hot, and sweet times in a marriage. It is a vow to weather to changes for better or worse.

Some officiates mention that this is the last time that the couple will give one another bitterness, sourness, or pain, and promise to be sweet!

To incorporate the items in your ceremony requires a table or stand and four vessels. Condiment sets, cordial glasses, or Moroccan tea glasses may be used. I like these:

Calvin Klein at Fortunoff

This is a great idea! How did they list on the wedding program?

Hi KImberly!

You can list it as Four Elements or Elements of Marriage on one side of the program and then describe it in another section - or let the officiant's explanation suffice
